Party like it’s 1776!
Celebrate Independence Day this July 4th at Montevallo’s American Village. It’s a red, white and blue family-friendly celebration!
If you’ve never visited this piece of living history, July 4th is the perfect time to do it. Activities are scheduled throughout the day in this stunning reproduction of a revolutionary-era village. The campus is home to Washington Hall, inspired by George Washington’s Mount Vernon, the Colonial Courthouse, the Colonial Chapel, as well as a full-sized replica of the Oval Office. The site is also home to the National Veterans Shrine and Register of Honor, dedicated to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces.
Highlights of the day include:
- Battle at Concord Bridge – Patriots engage the redcoats as the “shot heard ’round the world” ignites a Revolution.
- Thomas Jefferson reads the Declaration of Independence
- The Montevallo Community Band presents A Patriotic Musical Prelude
- Children’s Wagon and Flag Parade
- Americana Organ Concert
- Clog Wild Cloggers
- Watch historical reenactors: Junior Interpreters, Lucy Knox, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Dolley Madison, young Martha Washington, young patriot spies, Thomas Paine, Patrick Henry, Benjamin Franklin, Davey Crockett and more!
