Baseball, Birmingham and Blazers

There’s nothing quite like baseball season to get you in the mood for spring. The Birmingham Barons had their first home game this week and parents everywhere will attest that youth baseball is back in full force.

We’re especially excited for this weekend’s UAB Blazers baseball games-a three-game series against No. 18 Southern Miss at Young Memorial Field on the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Southside campus.

DonohooAuto and UAB athletics have a special relationship. Our founder, Chris Donohoo, played for the Blazers in the late ’90s and was a graduate assistant under Coach Larry “Gino” Giangrosso. He’ll tell you today that his experiences with UAB baseball equipped him with the leadership skills necessary to lead and build a growing business.

Today, Donohoo supports UAB athletics with quality vehicles for its head coaching staff and with other marketing initiatives.

Saturday will be a special day for the Blazers with the dedication of the team’s hitting facility. It will be named for long-time supporters of UAB Athletics, Dr. Michael Gallichio, and Kathleen Gallichio. We hope that the Gallichio hitting facility will be the breeding ground for many home runs to come.

So, get out and cheer on your favorite team this weekend. And if you’re in the market for a vehicle with lots of extra room for equipment bags, we’ll make sure to get you in and out quickly…but we’ll leave a game on in the showroom just in case.
