Neil Thompson Partners with Donohoo for PGA Tour

As a Class A member of both the PGA of America and the PGA of Great Britain and Ireland, Neil Thompson is an accomplished golfer with a long list of impressive achievements, both on and off the course.

Neil qualified for the 2023 Senior PGA Championship in Frisco, TX with excellent scores against stiff competition in the qualifying events, all while maintaining his business teaching students at Thompson Golf Academy.

Originally from England, Neil attended college on a golf scholarship in the United States, where he achieved 1st Team All-American status before turning professional. Since then, he has won at local and national levels, and his skills as a player are matched only by his expertise as a teacher.

Neil’s dedication to teaching is evident in the numerous awards he has won throughout his career. In 2022, he was named the Alabama/Northwest Florida Section Alabama Chapter Teacher of the Year, and in 2017, he received the Alabama/Northwest Florida Section Youth Player Development Award. He has also won the Dixie Section Player Development Award in 2014, the Dixie Section PGA Teacher of the Year in 2011, and the DSPGA Alabama Chapter Teacher of the Year in 2009. In addition, he has received Honorable Mention for US Kids Top 50 National Junior Teacher of the Year multiple times.

Neil’s passion for teaching is evident in his approach to golf instruction. He teaches all ages and abilities, from first-time golfers to tournament professionals, including winners on professional tours around the world. He has attained TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) Level III certifications, along with qualifications and certifications in club fitting, K-Vest 3D motion capture, and Trackman ball flight analysis. Neil’s qualifications, together with his playing background and his enthusiasm for learning, have molded him into the esteemed teacher he is today.
