We are extremely excited and honored to partner with the Hope for Gabe (H4G) Foundation in their national Ride4Gabe campaign starting at the end of June. Gabe Griffin of Shelby County was diagnosed with a muscle-killing disorder called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), which is a fatal genetic mutation that could end Gabe’s dreams of becoming a police officer at the young age of 20.

There is a promising drug, Eteplirsen, that has slowed the progression of DMD in other children, but the FDA has not granted the trial drugs access to Gabe or others like him. The Ride4Gabe bicycle campaign, led by cyclist and family-friend Michael Staley, will raise awareness, research funding for DMD, and support for the “Right to Try” law for experimental drugs such as Eteplirsen.

DonohooAuto has been touched by this story of our local community member and has pledged a support-SUV for the cross-country bike tour. This SUV will serve as the guide along the route and provide immediate access to food and water for the cyclists. We are thrilled to participate in this campaign and can’t wait to celebrate with the family and cyclists at the finish line in Mobile, AL!

Please like and follow Gabe and his friends on their journey through their Facebook page, Hope For Gabe.
